Biography
Mr. Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Mufarrij is regarded as one of the most prominent football administrators in Saudi Arabia, combining a successful playing career with an extensive executive and administrative journey spanning more than 25 years in the sports industry. He is widely recognized for his expertise in sports management and football operations at both domestic and continental levels, as well as for his contributions to enhancing administrative and operational excellence within Saudi clubs and national teams.
Fahad Al-Mufarrij began his football career with Al Hilal Club, progressing through the youth ranks before being promoted to the first team in 1997. He continued playing for Al Hilal until 2009 as a defender and contributed to winning numerous domestic and continental championships, securing more than 22 titles with the club. He also represented Saudi national youth teams in several international competitions and had a professional stint with Al-Ettifaq Club before retiring and transitioning into football administration.
Following his retirement, Al-Mufarrij moved into football management within Al Hilal Club. In 2012, he was appointed Manager of the Olympic Team, before becoming First Team Manager in 2013. During this period, he built extensive experience in team management, operational planning, and football administration, eventually becoming one of the club’s most influential administrative figures.
In 2019, he was appointed Executive Director of Football at Al Hilal Club, overseeing the club’s administrative, operational, and football activities. During his tenure, Al Hilal achieved numerous domestic and continental titles, in addition to participating in the FIFA Club World Cup and AFC Champions League. He was also known for his role in managing player operations, strengthening organizational stability, and enhancing the club’s operational structure. Throughout his administrative career with Al Hilal, he contributed to winning more than 24 championships, bringing his total achievements with the club as both player and executive to 47 titles.
In May 2026, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation appointed Fahad Al-Mufarrij as Executive Director of the Saudi National Teams (First Team and U-23 Team), as part of its strategy to strengthen administrative and operational structures ahead of upcoming international competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This appointment came after a successful administrative journey with Al Hilal that lasted more than 13 years.
Al-Mufarrij also holds specialized qualifications in sports management, including a Master’s degree in Football Business Administration and a Sports Management Diploma from FIFA, in addition to several professional courses and executive programs in sports administration and operations.
